What is Açaí?

Pronounced as “Ah-Sigh-Ee”

Açaí is a berry from the Euterpe palm, a native tree to the Amazon rainforest, an area with a tropical climate that has abundance in water. This palm tree produces between 4 and 8 stems that can carry multiple berry strands. With the significant growth of global demand in recent decades, açaí has become a very important source of income for rural communities of the region, where the berries are hand-picked by harvesters who climb trees up to 80 feet high.

The açaí pulp, which has about 15% of the fruit, is a natural antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals. It is also rich in minerals like Potassium and Calcium, Vitamin E, healthy fatty acids like Omega 6 and 9, and proteins.
